  Welcome to Shetlandlive Tourism which is part of Shetlands new Social and Community network Shetlandlive.com. Here you can advertise your Tourism property or business. We are completely independent from any Tourist board or Association and we are privately funded. I have my own tourist accommodation business in Shetland so I am aware of the frustrations with various tourism agencies that don’t seem to have a clue about Shetland, so decided it was time to do something about it. I find the charges for advertising can be are expensive and having to describe my property in 20 words and 1 picture didn’t seem cost effective so I built my own website. I have received a lot of bookings through it, but to make sure it is found I pay for additional advertising which can add up. I wondered how many other people in Shetland were in the same predicament, or have a place they would like to rent but it seems like a lot of hassle and expense to even get started? At Shetlandlive Tourism we do not take any commissions on your bookings and have no strict rules to follow in order to join (star grading etc) however you will build up a reputation from the customer feedback facility. All you pay for is your advert with us, which is very straightforward to set up. Shetlandlive will be high on the google search rankings for Shetland and we hope to be on the first page most of the time to attract a large amount of potential holiday makers to the site. We have www.welcometoshetland.com which will link directly to Shetlandlive Tourism whenever someone clicks the ad as well. We are liasing with various companies working all over Shetland who may be looking for short/long term accommodation for staff and workers all year round. Great for filling out of season and odd dates. Our tourism directory means all Tourist contacts and information are one place, it is easy to navigate through and has the ability to check availability of property and book online if you choose. It is like a virtual brochure as in it can be accessed via mobile phone , computer or laptop wherever you are.
  In our Shetlandlive Tourism section there is a slideshow of Shetland scenery with traditional fiddle music, videos and pictures for visitors to look at and add to, a useful currency convertor , trip planner and travel info and links , plus loads of useful information and links about Shetland within Shetlandlive. Please have a look yourself to see examples of tourism adverts already placed (link in Tourism Tab). We have created a Accommodation Wanted section and Accommodation availability calendar - so if your booked up already and a enquirer asks – Do you know anywhere else I can try? Now you can suggest they look on the Tourism availability calendar or tell them to put up a Wanted Accommodation ad (its free!)

  WHAT DO I GET WITH A TOURISM BUSINESS ADVERT?
  DESCRIPTION: Loads of room for descriptions and details of your property or business - no charge for number of words or size of ad as long as it fits into the page.

  As well as all the features you can have in a standard ad you also have the option of opening your own Tourism shop – for accommodation, goods, trips etc. I have nothing to sell I hear you say? Here you can “sell” any vacant rooms or dates you may have, plus help your customer tailor make their holiday by adding various options for them to buy to make their stay a bit more special. Shops are designed for various items with a price. Here are some examples

  So if you had a shop with 20 items you could use 10 of your “for sale” boxes for accommodation. For example if you still have 4 days accommodation left to fill at the beginning of July, you would make your advert to this effect with a price – so if someone buys it you’ve just got a booking and it can be paid for immediately if you choose , payments go direct to you. Its your advert and you have full control of adding and upgrading your listings. You may want to add various chargeable options that customers can add on to their booking at the same time, the options are endless.
